Vigelandsparken (Vigeland Sculpture Park) located on the western side of Oslo, is a park dedicated to the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. In this park, which he designed, are 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and iron. It's a beautiful outdoor park with gravel lanes and flower beds and water features.
Yesterday being an absolutely gorgeous day in Oslo, we decided that a visit here would be the perfect start to our walkabout, and we were not disappointed.
The entrance from the #12 Tram side of the park
Gustav Vigeland...himself (1869-1943)
There were a number of these sculptures along the main path
The Duchess posing...life imitating art
The flower beds that were placed along the paths gave off the lovely fragrance of roses and other flowers
Several of the paths were lined with trees on both sides. We followed this path down a cafe where we had a light lunch, then onto the next adventure, which was across the harbor at the Norsk Folkemuseum.
